Renovating the Studio: Exciting Updates

I am so excited about the renovations currently happening in our wellness studio. This has been a true labour of love, liaising with lots of different suppliers and tradespeople, to craft a space that captures the essence of wellness — welcoming, refined, and calming. Today, I want to update you on our progress, the changes we're implementing, and what you can anticipate when we reveal the new studio.

The Vision Behind the Renovation

Our main goal with the renovation was to create an environment that promotes relaxation and has a boutique, airy feel — something not typically found in traditional gym settings. One of the most significant changes has been the layout of the studio. To achieve a more open, spacious feel, we removed the former stud walls of the old beauty salon to create one large, versatile space, making the most of the natural light throughout.

We began by taking down the existing walls and developing to-scale drawings to reimagine the layout. As the toilets and treatment rooms are located at the rear of the property, we designed a corridor along one side to connect the front social area with the back, keeping the main studio space open and undisturbed. From there, it was time to clear out what was no longer needed and construct new stud walls — bringing our drawings and vision to life.

Benefits of the New Layout

  • Enhanced Natural Light: The removal of walls allows for more sunlight to enter the space, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

  • Improved Versatility: The open layout provides flexibility for various classes and activities, accommodating different group sizes and setups.

  • Better Flow: A more open design promotes easier movement throughout the studio, enhancing the overall experience for participants.

Our new layout enhances both the look and functionality of the space. . Each space now serves its purpose while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

An effective layout can significantly improve client satisfaction. A recent survey showed that 85% of wellness studio customers prefer open spaces that feel welcoming and spacious.

Signage at the Front of the Studio

The new sign at the front of the studio perfectly aligns with our branding, embodying a clean and sleek aesthetic. It was designed to provide key information for passers-by while avoiding a cluttered look. The process of bringing this vision to life, from the initial drawings to collaborating with the sign designer, has been truly exciting and rewarding.

We chose our lighter branding colour for the sign tray with black , flat-lay lettering in our branding font. In the windows, we used the colour on the sign tray which pops against the black frames of the studio.

First Fix for Electricians and Plumbers

During the initial phase of a renovation, the first fix for electricians and plumbers is crucial in ensuring that the layout of electrical sockets, lighting, and plumbing feeds is both functional and efficient. Careful planning at this stage can significantly impact the overall usability and comfort of the space.

Designing Electrical Layouts

  • Socket placement has been thoughtfully planned to ensure easy access for essential equipment while keeping the space uncluttered and minimal.

  • Switch locations have also been positioned for convenience — intuitive, subtle, and seamlessly integrated into the studio’s clean design.

When planning the electrical layout for the studio, we’ve carefully considered how the space will function day to day.

Planning Plumbing Feeds

  • The plumbing layout has been designed with both practicality and longevity in mind. We’ve ensured smooth water flow for amenities and strategically placed fixtures to support the overall flow of the space.

  • We’ve also considered accessibility and maintenance, positioning feeds carefully within walls to maintain a refined aesthetic while keeping everything functional and easy to service.
